Unable to open new window to full screen

Small problem that I have not been able to overcome: When I open a new
window in Vista (such as the browser) it only opens to about 2/3 screen
width on my wide screen monitor. I can drag it to fill the complete screen.
But after closing the window by exiting the program Vista dows not remember
that I want to open in full screen so I have to drag to widen when I access
the browser again. Does this with all programs & windows that I open. Where
should I be looking to change the default?

Thank you ....... Bob.....feeling dumber each day

If, in IE7, you click the expand to max button (next to X top right)
IE should fill your screen. Then close it by clicking X.

Next time IE7 opens it should do maximized.

In Control Panel > Folder Options, on the View tab, make sure that "Remember
each folder's view
settings" has a checkmark (Apply, OK).

Thanks but.......when I do this it locks the window at 2/3 width of screen.
If I click again to unlock, I can drag to a wider window ie full screen.
Close it, open again .....and still only 2/3 width.

Find the shortcut (or make one) for the IE7 browser. Right click on it
selecting properties. Where it says 'run', click on the little down
pointing arrow and change to from "normal" to maximized. Now click on
BOTH apply and save. The next time you click on the shortcut the
browser should open full screen and fill your monitor's screen.

If you prefer to make it some size less than full screen repeat the
steps but leave the "normal" window setting then when it opens while
holding down your left mouse once you see the double headed cursor
which you will once you move it over a corner of any window drag a
corner of said window out and away from the center to make larger or
in towards the center to make it smaller. Again be sure to click on
apply and save. This works not just for the browser, but almost any
application or applet appearing in a window. The down side which
you'll have to ask Microsoft about is the change doesn't always get
remembered for sizing, it does change from normal to maximized without
problem.

You need to delete a registry setting.

Be careful doing this.

In search, type regedit.

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Delete the following keys:
Placeholder_Height
Placeholder_Width

Do Windows Explorer windows remember their size (for example, the Pictures
folder, or Music folder, Computer, etc.)? Can you cite other programs
besides Internet Explorer that don't remember their size?

Try this. Open Internet Explorer, without other programs with open windows
running, so that IE is the only window on your screen. Right-click a blank
area of the Desktop taskbar, and choose "Show Windows Side by Side"). IE
should then re-size. Close IE. When opening IE again, is that new window
size remembered?

Hi,
For Internet Explorer windows...
Open a webpage. Stretch it out to fullsize. Don't use maximize.
Choose any link on that webpage and right-click> open in a new window.
Stretch that second window out to the desired size- don't use maximize.
Close the first IE window. Then close that second resized window.

To always get a true maximized window...
AutoSizer 1.4- http://www.southbaypc.com/AutoSizer/
