I have been trying to update my site, and I keep getting this error message
that say's "unable to open 'http:// my web site.com' server error, possible
causes
1. The web server may not have FP extensions installed.
2.The web server may be temporarily out of service.
3.If connecting through a proxy server, the settings may be inccorrect.
4. An error may have occured in the web."

I have uninstalled the FP extensions and reinstalled them. I have
reinstalled FP, I have called my hosting provider, they were able to logon to
my account, they say everything is fine on their end. My site fucntions and
is running and I am using FP2003. I have searched the web, microsoft and
every where else I can think, but still no luck. Any ideas would be
appreciated.

What recent changes have you made to your pc hardware or software? Do you
have a Norton or other Security Center installed, etc.? New firewall?

That is "normally" a sign of an extensions issue on the server, or a firewall issue on your
machine.
Have you recently installed or upgraded a firewall??

Also, go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
and download FP Cleaner.
Run the functions that clear the Cache(.web) files and the
FrontPage Temporary files.

Then see if you can connect. If not, check firewall settings
and have your host repair / reinstall the extensions on the server.

Thanks for the info, I had shut down Norton's and my firewall, but no help.
I had uninstalled my front page extensions, then reinstalled them but I still
could not publish my site. After I posted this I noticed that there are
other forums on this site and a couple of other people had the same problem
and their solution was to uninstall office, then reinstall and after two
tries success was finaly mine.
