I have Windows Vista and Windows Mail and I am trying to download the movie
files from the newsgroups section and when I open the file all I get is some
sort of message that has a bunch of scribbly letters and numbers but no
attachment with the file. I used to have Outlook Express and had no problem
opening up these movie files. Maybe I dont have my settings correct? My
default player is Windows Player 11 Any help would be appreciated
This is some of what I get when I open the file, and no attachments what so
ever:
M,":R=8YFSQ&FV0"J`&+.;'`'````````"0````$",R:R=8YFSQ&FV0"J`&+.
M;/(`````````-``T`#0`-````'<`=P!W`"X`4P!C`&@`;P!O`&P`1@!O`'(`
M3`!E`',`8@!I`&$`;@!S`"X`8P!O`&T```!W`'<`=P`N`%,`8P!H`&\`;P!L

You are probably looking at multiple files and opening just one of them.
You need to do a Message | Combine and Decode on the files.

well oh dumb one me, what does all that mean and how do you do that?

Porn etc. (Movies and Videos,) in the context of Usenet (look it up on Wiki)
are relatively large files and often exceed the individual message size
limit
on servers and therefore need to be split into multiple parts.
These will appear as numerous files of the same name but appended
with a part of many number eg. (013,100) ie. file 13 of 100.

To recreate the original file a combine and decode needs to be performed
and this is done by selecting all parts of the message, hold down Shift key
and click/highlight on each part and then selecting
Actions > Recombine Attachments
whereupon one is presented with a window listing the numerous parts.
After ensuring they are in the right order... 1,2,3 etc. the function will
recreate your... ahem... hobby.
