Unable to open Access 97 db

I have a db which has become locked or corrupted. When I try to open it
Access says: The database c:\.....mdb needs to be repaired or isn't a
database file. I click yes and get the message ...can't be repaired...

The db was open(within a web site) while another person may have been trying
to write to it. Any ideas how I can repair or open it??

Thanks

For more information on corruption including possible causes,
determining the offending PC, retrieving your data, links, official MS
KB articles and a list of vendors who state they can fix corruption
