Unable to open Access 2000 database

Using a Dell Inspiron 4100 running Win XP SP2 and MS Access from Office 2000
I have created a simple database on behalf of a client. Nothing fancy – no
security, no app style opening form, just a few tables, queries forms and
reports. It is something I have done a thousand times without a problem.

Yet on this occasion the client reports he cannot open the database. He is
running Win XP and assures me he has a current edition (2000 or above) of MS
Access installed on his computer. He reports the following error message:

Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.
To open file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location.

The message is clearly gibberish, because my client has copied the database
on to his machine.

Does anyone know what has given rise to this error message or what is
preventing him from opening the database?

Please forgive me if I am misunderstanding it, but that aeticle seems to
relate to the (unhelpful) error message rather than the symptoms.

In this case the user is not using the internet or an intranet. He is
trying to to open a file residing locally on his own computer, but he is
getting an error message which implies (incorrectly) that he is trying to
open a file from an insecure zone.

Are you able to help me work around that?

So you are saying that the user is not on a LAN at all? Is the database
split?

He might check the properties on the file (right-click...properties) and hit
the Unblock button.
