Unable to login-Login Screen disappeared!

Hi, I returned home from work to day and discovered that I
can't log on to my laptop any more. At first, when I
entered my password, it kept saying that the password is
wrong. Thinking that it may have stalled, I restarted the
laptop (which I left at home the whole day, I was still
able to login earlier in the morning). After the system
restarted, the usual login screen with users' names just
comes up blank. Nada, Nothing, Empty.

Does anyone experiencing anything similar? Is this like a
new virus or something? I don't think I'd downloaded
anything from the mail nor web lately. What could have
caused this? I'm currently using WindowsXP Prof.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a whole lot!

Try keeping down "Alt" + " Ctrl" + " Delete" in the welcome screen for
2 seconds. Then type your user name and password and log on to your
XP. You
should look up your computer for Trojans/worms then. Always use a
firewall
and keep your Antivirus up to date.
