Hi
Can anyone help please. I have broadband and Microsoft Outlook 2002. I have
a couple of email accounts (pop3), including Yahoo and Orange. I keep getting
the following message when I test my email settings: "Unable to logon to the
outgoing mail server (SMTP). Please verify your SMTP server and - if your
server requires authentication - the authentication information on the "More
Settings" pages".
I have checked & unchecked the "My outgoing Server (SMTP requires
authentication" button without it making any difference.
Many thanks to you all in anticipation

Are you away from home using a laptop? If so, you will need to get the
correct 'Outgoing SMTP' server name. It will be different from yours, and
you will need to use that one while in that location, ie. hotel. I called
the front desk and asked for the IT person to call me; worked right away!

Having checked the "requires authenticaion", have you then entered the
relevant username and password for that account?

Jay & John,

Thanks for your help. Firstly I am not using a laptop, and I am talking
about my computer at home. Secondly I have ticked the "requires
authentication" button and entered my name and password, and I still get the
same response. Could it be a "Firewall" or something similar?

Regards

Ray
