unable to log on to profile

my xpclient is attached to a win2000 domain. Initially
you could access the domain directly upon logon with
domain administrator user name and psword. The machine
will log directly unto the domain. Apparently these
settings were lost. I can now only logon unto the machine
locally as administrator and then access the network via
logon through local administrator profile. If i create a
restore point from previous date i will be able to logon
to the domain with use of domain username and psword. can
anyone assist in my retaining domain administrator
profile settings.

Need some further information;

Do you see a profile for the domain administrator listed under Documents and
Settings?
What is the error you get when trying to logon to the domain?
Is the Domain Administrator a member of the local Admin group of the
workstation?
