Unable to install printer driver in XP Pro

All appears to go OK when intalling the Minolta 2300DL
driver, then the PC restarts as if the power failed. No
2300DL listed in the printer list after the system is
finished restarting. I've even tried reinstalling XP Pro
but still the same problem. Obtained the latest driver
from Minolta's web site.

Not conversant with Minolta printers with but HP for example you MUST follow
the installation instructions EXACTLY or it fails. Suggest you check on the
Minolta site. Also, before installing, run DiskClean and close ALL running
programs especially any AV ones

Thanks Eric. I tried the disk clean routine, shut of the
AV and tried the install again but the sytem still
rebooted during the part when you see the papers flying
between the folders. Been working on this for a week.
Minolta support has now escalated the issue to the
software gurus. //Bryan

Maybe try copying the printer installation disk to your
hard drive and then run its setup from there. May be a
read/write problem between your cd drive, ram and hard
drive.
Some thing else you may be able to do so we can have more
clues to troubleshoot with is to do the following:
Click on start and right click My Computer.
Choose Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Click on the settings button under Startup and Recovery.
Uncheck the box Automatically Restart. Click ok.
When the machine now fails it will give us a blue screen
with information on your problem.
Please post this information.

Ron, thanks for your reply.
I did try the latest installation on the hard drive that
I downloaded from Minolta. I unchecked the auto restart
and got the info from the blue screen, this was a big
help. Looks as if the driver installation is trying to
load data into memory that the system does not allow,
thus the stop. Here is the info I recorded from the blue
screen.
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Tech Info:
STOP: 0x0000000A
(0xBAD0B16C,0x000000FF,0x00000000,0x80523912)

Problem corrected. Minolta Support came though. I had to
remove an extra parallel card in the system that did not
have an IRQ assigned, then install the printer driver. I
still can't plug the extra parallel card in otherwise the
sytem crashes but that is not an issue for me. Thanks
Eric & Ron for answering the post. //Bryan
