unable to file share

I have a windows xp home connected to a windows xp pro computer via a dsl modem network hub. My filesharing was working fine then seemingly out of the blue I cannot access files on eithor computer I get the message access denied. any ideas? I checked file sharing properties on each computer and they are enabled.

I have had the same thing happen. I hope somebody will
answer your post. No one has answered mine yet.

I suspect it was a Windows update that did it but I don't
know for sure.

If you have a sw firewall like NIS or ZA I suggest disabling it and see if
you can then file share. Report back with the results.

I did but because I thought zone alarm pro was the problem I have since uninstalled it. I currently have no firewall on my home network connections only on my internet connection into my router. On one machine I have xp home running and on the other I just reinstalled xp pro because I thought that may have been the problem machine. Now I can access files on the xp pro machine but when I am on the xp pro machine I cannot access files on the xp home machine. I keep getting the message access denied you do not have permission. I have checked the sharing privilages on the xp home machine and the xp pro machine. any ideas?
