Unable to disable System Restore

Recently installed 160 gig, using Seagate's software which also copied OS and
programmes from old 60 gig to new C: Everything is fine. Using 60 gig D:
for backup. To maximize space I entire Win directory, but cannot shut off
system restore, as OS (XP SP II) says it is "system drive". It has no OS on
it... Anysolutions other than fdsik and reformat?
cheers...

Hi Lyman,

Are these the steps you used to turn SR off on the D:\ drive?

To turn off System Restore, follow these steps: 1. Click Start,
right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Select the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off
System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System
Restore.

Hello Bert...
I hesitated to turn off restore on all drives because I did not want to
lose restore points on C: as well. (I am not sure if this would happen??)

Navigating to: My Computer > Properties > System Restore, then selected D:
Drive > Settings, I get this message:
"Local 60Gig (D:) is the system drive. You cannot turn System Restore off on
this drive without turning it off on all drives."
Since Loca 60gig (D:) is *not* the present system drive, I got confused!
Even so, now that I think of it, there is not much of a problem losing
restore points and starting over... Aside from this anomaly, the system is
purring along nicely..

Hi Lyman,

Could you please supply some more information before we make any
changes?

Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced tab. Click the Settings button
under Startup and
Recovery and click the Edit button. This will open your boot.ini file
in notepad. Copy and paste the contents here so we can see them. DO
NOT save any setting when closing at this time.

Now go to Start - Run and type msinfo32 and press enter.
Navigate to Components - Storage - Drives.
Highlight the contents in the right pane and press ctrl+c to copy.
Past this information here also.
