my upgrade from Windows ME to XP was anything but simple & easy! now i am saddled with unwanted files i cannot delete. i followed Rick Rogers advice to Andy (use of "RD /s /q <folder>") but still get a cannot delete response. like Andy, the system reports a 0 byte size, then says the folder is not empty! any help would be appreciated.

Does the folder have a name? You cannot delete it if it's a system
file/folder.
What does the cannot delete message say?

If not a system file/folder....
