unable to copy files

I am unable to copy files between folders for installation
that have been downloaded from the net.

I receive the following error;

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.


Error signature

AppName: explorer.exe Appver: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName:
mfc42.dll
ModVer:6.0.8665.0 Offset:0005e3d6

When I close the error my taskbar and icons disapear
momentarily then reapear.

Have you tried to just install the files, the install
program should install to the desired folder.

Also, look at the file properties to be sure about "read
only" setting.

I have always downloaded files/programs from the net to a parent folder and then copied them to another folder for installation

I do basically the same, except I have a partition with a
download folder (with subfolders for each source) which
protects and organizes the downloaded files. I install from
that partition to the C: partition.
