Unable to connect with FTP client

P

proggy

Hi,

This has just got me stumped. I have W2K Server as a standalone. I've had it
installed on two machines, one at home the other at work. In both cases,
whenever I tried to connect to a site with my WS_FTP client, I get errors
complaining about, "Logon failure, not logged in".

This is very annoying and I don't know what to do to resolve it. It works
just fine on my old NT4 machine. So the problem must be with W2K Server OS.

BTW, the same problem occurs with Dreamweaver MX when I want to use ftp
connection to load up files to the web server.

Is there some security setting that I need to get right on this server?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't know your exact problem, but here is a KB article that may help on FTP
permissions. You might also want to enable auditing of logon events on the server and
then check the security log in Event Viewer to see if failures are being recorded and
what the reason is. There is also a security newsgroup specific to Issues where you
may want to post. --- Steve
