unable to connect using dsl and ie6

I'm having a problem trying to connect to the internet
using dsl + ie6. I have been on the phone with my isp
tech support for hours and my computer is setup correctly
to use the dsl. However, when I try to connect I get
a "cannot diplay page" error. It seems that the browser
is trying to locate a proxy that doesn't exist and gets
stuck at that point. I have been to the MSN support
center and I have tried most of the corrections listed
but, I'm still unable to connect. Any help would be
appreciated.

If you can ping the sites try this fix.
