unable to close browser window

I have IE6 sp1 installed and whenever I try to close the
browser window, I get a "ding" sound...same thing when I
hit alt F4. The window will not close and I have to end
task on IEXPLORE.EXE. I have gone back to IE5 and no
luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Josh,

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/

Search for common parasites at http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, etc. You may have to uninstall then reinstall
a program.
