unable to change font

i am unable to change the font of a word/s within a a Microsoft Word Document
to a non TrueType font - for example the 'Script' font with the file type as
..FON rather than .TTF - i have windows XP and office version 10.0 is there
any way i change this?

If you select the text, open the Font dialog box and type in the name
of the font, does that work?

Word can only use fonts that the printer driver is capable of using. This
one is a screen font.
