Unable to browse some web sites

Hi friends,

The IE version is 6.0 and the customer is unable to browse
certain web sites like www.microsoft.com, www.cnn.com.

We have tried clearing TIF, set security level to default,
disable NAV, try a repair of IE, Last Known Good
Configuration, System Restore to no avail.

The error that the customer gets is "Internet explorer has
encountered a problem".

Asked customer to install IE 6 SP1. But not sure if it
worked. Any suggestions?

1) ping or tracert the sites in question, see if problem on other end

2) through dos clear the temporary internet files and cookies folder (don't
delete the folders, just contents using) the deltree command , reboot
