unable to boot from cd-rom

I'm trying to boot from cd-rom after setting my first bootable device as my
cd-rom...but for some reason the hard drive continues to boot up?....my
drive is like 3rd on the list.

I have an original dvd drive, and an addtional cd rw drive on board.
The platform is a Dell Dimension.


what am i doing wrong?

Try tapping the Esc key,a boot-up menu should present itself,som
machines use the F8 or Delete key.
