Unable to access network shares through Nortel VPN 4.65

I am a desktop tech. I have a trouble ticket that has me stumped.

User is trying to connect to network from home and is getting the following
error "An error occurred while connecting: local drive name is already in
use. the connection has not been restored."

This error comes when she tries to access her mapped network drives.

This is what we have done so far:
- CHKDSK
- Defrag
- Removal of SpyWare
- Removal and Reinstall of Nortel VPN 4.65
- In Local Area Connection> Unchecked Eacfilt.
- Verified User has Admin Rights
- Changed her from a Business OU, to an Engeieering OU.

I could just re-image her drive, however I would like to find out how to fix
what is broken, and not just apply a band-aid!

Please enlighten me!

What happens if you remove the local drive mappings, and use a login
script/batch file -

net use x: \\server\share /persistent:no

etc

?

I need to verify if she is getting the login script that she is supposed to, when trying to connect from home, I will talk to her later on today. I will post my finding. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

The user, was able to successfully connect through VPN by removing her DSL
Modem from verizon, and dialing in through the DSL filter using POTS.
