I agree with your suggestions. The PC belongs to my son's family. Some-one
deleted Norton Anti-Virus. So the scan has to wait, till I get back into the
internet.
However I found this article under KnowledgeBase:

c:\windows\inf\ie.inf { just copy and paste to make life easier } 3) Press
ENTER or click OK
The result is just as mysterious. I initially patitioned the harddrive, one
drive per family member. My daugther-in-law changed provider and got the IE
and Mail working with help of a tech. After I followed the above instr. she
can connect in her drive, while the other three users cannot. That now is
the question. Can you help again.?
