unable to access internet

Suddenly I am no longer able to access the internet. All systems are
working with the exception of my internet explorer. The option menu is not
accessible. For any suggestion I am grateful.

Hi Nurmi,

The first step to take is to perform a full system scan with an updated
virus scanner, then scan the system for spyware and browser hijacks using
programs such as AdAware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy.
I would recommend the use of both programs as they complement each other.

Thank you Larry,

I agree with your suggestions. The PC belongs to my son's family. Some-one
deleted Norton Anti-Virus. So the scan has to wait, till I get back into the
internet.
However I found this article under KnowledgeBase:
Insert the Win XP CD - original in CD drive 2) Open Start / Run and type:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
c:\windows\inf\ie.inf { just copy and paste to make life easier } 3) Press
ENTER or click OK

The result is just as mysterious. I initially patitioned the harddrive, one
drive per family member. My daugther-in-law changed provider and got the IE
and Mail working with help of a tech. After I followed the above instr. she
can connect in her drive, while the other three users cannot. That now is
the question. Can you help again.?
