un-partition a drive?

My buddy gave me his xp windows notebook. But the drive is partitioned -- it's full on one side and empty on the other. So, I tried to un-partition it, but now I just have 2 gigs of space somewhere that I can't access. Any suggestions

Hi,

To expand the remaining drive to encompass the newly created free space
requires a third-party partitioning utility. This is not something you can
do with the drive tools in Windows.

Partitioning programs:

BootIT NG www.terabyteunlimited.com
Partition Magic www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic
Partition Commander http://www.v-com.com/product/pc_ind.html
Ranish Partition Manager http://www.ranish.com/part/
