Un expected behavior: Files on C: drive are compressed!

Hi,

Lots of files in my C: drive (different locations) are compressed (blue
color file name) :

Properties->General Tab-> Advanced Button -> Compress contents to save disk
space is checked

I've never ever asked to compress my files. That means on the C: drive
properties, the compress check box is NOT checked.

The performance of my c: drive suffers badly.

How come so many files are end up being compressed?

Is there any fast way to un-compress all files in c: drive?

Is there any way to guarantee that all files in c: drive stay un-compressed
unless I choose to do so?

Any help would be appreciated,
Max

Running Disk Cleanup will do that if you don't pay attention to what it
is doing. If you elect to NOT allow it to do that, it won't. You may
UNcompress by selecting and r-clicking, then Properties, Advanced, and
UNcheck the compress.

Which files specifically? Microsoft/Windows Update backup files
($NTUninstall* directories) are compressed automatically. They will
not affect the speed of your drive because they are not read again
unless you back out of a update.
