Ultrasound issue

Doug

Hi,

I am using Ultrasound to monitor Sysvol in my mixed Windows
2000/2003 domain. I have 19 domain controllers, but only one is
giving me problems with Ultrasound. The error message states:

Failed Ultrasound server updates - WMI Access denied

In the Ultrasound console, I have manually updated. I have
also copied USProvider.msi to the target domain controller and ran:

msiexec /fvamus USProvider.msi
CONTROLLERACCOUNT=ControllerComputerAccount

Can anyone suggest anything else I can try?

Thank-you!

Ultrasound questions should be posted to
microsoft.public.windows.server.dfs_frs. Please post any follow up there.

First, try using wmimgmt.msc and point to the DC that is having failed
collections.
1) Start | Run.
2) wmimgmt.msc
3) Right click the WMI Control node. Select Connect to another computer.
4) Select Another computer. Type in the machine name. OK.
5) Right click the WMI Control node. Select Properties.
6) Verify the text in the General tab indicates it connected okay.
7) Click the Security tab.
8) Expand Root | CIMV2 | Applications.
9) Select MicrosoftUltrasoundV1.
10) Click the Security button at the bottom of the tab.
11) Look for your controller machine account (Domain\MachineName$).
12) Verify it has Execute Methods, Enable Account, and Remote Enable.

Second, try redeploying the provider using the console.
1) Tools | Configure Ultrasound.
2) Select your replica.
3) Select the affected server.
4) Click on Update Provider (or Install Provider).

If it installs okay, there are other issues. If it goes back to Install
(Queued) fairly quickly, there is a problem with installation. Otherwise,
if it goes to Installed, then there is something else wrong.

Is there anything special about the one particular machine compared with the
rest?

Please post FRS related questions to microsoft.public.windows.server.dfs_frs
and prefix the subject line with "FRS:" to make it easier to spot. Note
that FRS is used to replicate SYSVOL on domain controllers and DFS root and
link targets.

OK. Thanks. I'll try your suggestions.

Sorry for posting to the wrong group.
