Ultima On Line

Does anyone out there have anyone out there have any suggestions for getting
UO to run better on Vista. I've always been able to comfortably play the 3D
client, and it has always baffled me when I hear people complaining about
the 3D client being laggy and having in general very poor performance. This
always made me wonder what kind of machines they were using. Since I've
installed Vista I've notice incredible drop in playability. The only thing
I can attribute this to is Vista. Anything that comes to mind could help.

Thanks,

Nathan

This is a guess but because of VISTA using MUCH of the onboard graphics
memory, the game has fewer resources to now pull from, which may be causing
the lag that you did not see in XP (because the graphics requirements were
so much lower).

What card are you using?

I'm using ATI Radeon Xpress 200M. Perhaps I need to pull more memory from
system to video. I just can't seem to under stand how UO needs more than
64MB ram. It is simply not a graphically intense game even in "3D". But
if I pull more memory from system memory to video memory It'll start having
a whole other set of problems. Maybe since UO is not a graphically intense
program, I need to devote more to system memory instead?

I think I'll try that be for making an other monetary investment and go from
there. I do want to get more ram, but not now.

Oh well, tis the nature of the computing industry machines are out dated as
soon as you buy them. I think computer resale value is even worse than
automobiles.

Thanks,

Nathan
