Hi,

I am looking to get a list of good UK price comparision sites for hardware, preferably I'd like to track the prices of many components and get an email when it hits a certain amount as I build a lot of systems and the prices can vary week to week.

some ones I've found so far

http://www.espyer.com - quite new, neat graphs of price and stock but the notification of price changes etc is apparently going to be added

http://www.pcindex.co.uk - layout is hard to use and no chance of notifications, plus they don't have all the bits listed I care about..

http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/ - fairly comprehensive no notification stuff

http://www.kelkoo.co.uk/ - similar to pricerunner above

please anyone who uses price compare sites in UK can add to the list ?

Thanks!

Froogle.co.uk is my new favorite.

I like the look of the ESpyer site (I guess that is your site?) and it has some useful features, but it does seem limited in capability so far. I'll keep my eye on it though, as it looks like it has potential!

Thanks guys :)

ahh,. caught me ;)

yep, I've had a small hand in the eSpyer site,. and it's still being worked on so we're looking at the competition to see what's about,. I guess one of the things about most of the current comparision sites is there's no 'history' of the price of something,. so you can't see what it was last week or whatever..

one of the bits that eSpyer might score on is the ability for peeps to hot-link out the graphs,. like

from http://www.espyer.com/tracker/40

so it can be posted round the web (and hopefully attract more users!)..

thanks for your comments and the links,. I haven't looked at froogle properly since I noticed they were doing it in the US so I will have a proper look :)

PS, the eSpyer site we made for fun (and because we wanted something like that!) - there's no earnings model and it would always remain free to use :)

I do like the graphing feature of the site, if you keep working at it I'm sure the visitors will come.

Do you manually scan the sites, or do you use a datafeed?

thanks,. it's very early days yet but if we didn't poke it out we'd have lost the enthusiasm to get it finished :lol

at the moment the individual spec pages are scanned every 24 hours, which is why the tracked items are essentially chosen by users putting in quickcodes with a chosen e-store.. who knows if it gets popular enough we'll approach some of the stores we like and ask for a stock feed, ya never know :)

I just done a search for 'DFI LAN Party NF4 Sli DR' using every search engine listed here, and imo they're all a bit crap.

Not one of them took me to a trusted supplier. And I found better prices using the suppliers I know of.

Early days yet, it seems.

hi floppybootstomp,

where http://www.eSpyer.com differs is that you can add and item yourself from one of the supported sites..

take the url from somewhere like ebuyer > http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=6151267677&product_uid=86395 and paste it into the http://www.espyer.com/addtracker page to start it tracking :)

may I ask who your trusted supplier is, or what shops you guys mostly shop at ? :)

Sil

PS, the board is currently £140.79 inc VAT at ebuyer
