I am using Office XP and Windows XP in both Arabic and English. I have used Arabic extensively mainly in Word and Excel for several years with no problems, except that no matter what I do all I can get for numbers are the western ones, not the ones generally used in Arabic. I have this problem with All Office applications, Wordpad, Notepad, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ and Internet Explorer. The only proram that will allow me to type Arabic numbers is Al Mawrid Dictionary, which does not depend on any Windows settings for which language to type in, so I think the problem is with Windows and not with Office

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Try going to http://office.microsoft.com/home/default.aspx
in the search select all office online, then type in
arabic numbers for the keywords. It came up with a lot
of different categories that may help you.

This is almost certainly connected with Windows regional settings. There is
a windows arabic newsgroup and a windowsxp setup newsgroup, both of which
are likely to be of more help than this Word related one.

hi shirin.. at first I'm sorry for my bad lang. but i 'll try to my best.
if you use windows XP you may not added the arabic lang. yet.
Try to do that.
* go to control panel.
* then go to lang. settings (or something like that.. I forgot what it is because i'm using windows 98 right now).
* and there .. search for adding langs. and the arabic will be under (right to left scripts - or - complex scripts ).
and i hope i helped you.
