txtsetup.sif missing or corrupt

Hi,
I'm trying to install W2K using the 4 boot floppies. On
the first floppy installation stops with the following
message: "txtsetup.sif missing or corrupt". I tried
copying txtsetup.sif from the i386 folder on the W2K CD
but the same thing happened.
Any ideas?
Rob.

I'd try re-generating the floppies. On the W2K install CD
there will be a directory named something
like "BOOTDISK". Inside that directory find MAKEBOOT.EXE,
and execute it. You'll need four blank formatted HD
floppies.

This may work for you instead, as you probably will find
you won't have to rely on using the boot disks at all:

First of all make sure your BIOS is set to boot to the
CDrom as the first boot device, then as your PC boots up,
during the blue instal screen for windows 2k, where it
asks you to press F6 at the bottom to install a new SCSI
or RAID drive or something like that, press F5 instead.
ONce all the files are done being loaded as usual it will
take you to a different screen asking you to select the
kind of computer you are running. For me default was set
to other, but select 'standard pc' and go from there.

I found this entirely on accident after my 2k pro was
giving me all kinds of heck for not wanting to install,
and it worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you, and
if it does be sure to let us know :)

I had tried alright booting from the CDROM. I changed the
BIOS to boot from the CD first. However, the PC won't boot
from the CDROM. I guess that must be just because its an
older PC?

I had tried making a new set of boot disks with new
floppys more than once. But no joy there.

I tried to boot in DOS then install the CDROM Driver and
then run the setup application from the CDROM. It wouldn't
run in DOS mode. I forgot I should have been trying winnt
and not setup. I'll try that again.

Why can't the install be done from the floppys as usual? I
had installed W2K on this machine about 9 months ago using
the floppys.

Cheers,
Rob.
