.TXT conversion from internet

Dennis

I am trying to "Open with Excel" a .txt file I created from the Internet. In
Mcrosoft EXCEL 2003 it was a very simple process, but in Microsoft 2007 it
doesn't seen to work. Is there a different way to do this than simply
right-clicking on the file and asking to "Open with EXCEL"? When I do this
nothing happens.

Dennis,
I tried and found three ways to do this, whichever one you prefer.

Process 1:
Select Open from Excel (by clicking on the Office button in the upper right
corner & then selecting Open)
Next to the File Name, click the file type down arrow and select text files
Search for your file and select it
Click Open
If the file is delimited (i.e., characters such as commas or tabs separating
fields, or is fixed width), work through the Text Wizard to format your data
for import.

Process 2
Open your text file
Select all the data (Control-A usually works)
Copy all the data to the clipboard (Control-C usually works)
Open Excel
Select Paste (Control-V usually works)

Process 3
Open Excel
Find your text file with Windows Explorer, or place your text file on your
desktop
Drag your file onto the open Excel sheet

Process 2 & 3 will not break your data into individual cells if the data is
delimited. Process 1 will break your data into individual cells if it is
deliminted, depending on what you select in the Text Wizard.
