Two videos side by side - Help please

Hi
I have understood and mastered XML file for "Special Effects"
to include a Video in a picture.
(I mention that to show that Im not a complete plonker !!)

I want to get two different AVI files running side by side.
The need for careful synchronization is understood.

I saw an article about how to do it, but I was too dim to
understand it.

Is there a "Two videos side by side for Dummies" anywhere ??

Some guidance for a simple man would be useful please.
