Two different Product Keys reported for a machine.

There are at least three programs that are supposed to reveal the
product key of the installed XP system. They are Keyfinder (Magic
Jellybean), ViewkeyXP and RockXP. The last will show the keys for other
MS products as well.

However the key revealed by Keyfinder and RockXP is different from that
shown by ViewkeyXP. This happens on three machines installed here.
Those by the first two agree with the stickers on two of the machines
and the sleeve the third XP CD came in so I trust them.

Has anyone any idea why ViewkeyXP doesn't appear to be reporting the
correct keys?

Thank you.

Thank you William. I've seen BelArc recommended many times for finding
the Product Key of the installed XP and I have BelArc installed.
However, nowhere in the information presented do I find the Product Key
for my XP Home system. The only entry for XP is under Software Licenses
and it shows a number, no alphas, that bears no relation to the product
key. I assume your version does show the key for you recommend its use.

Would you please point out to me where on the pages I can find it?

Thank you again.

Look under the section "Software Licences".

What version are you using for Belarc Advisor. The latest one is 6.1f. This
can be found near the top of the page under "Computer Profile Summary"

Oh, I am embarrassed to tell you the very old version number but now I
have 6.1f and it does exactly what you said it would.

I thank you very, very much.

Yes Jack, in my experience ViewkeyXP does Not show the correct product key
on any of my machines. Both Magic Jellybean and RockXP as well as BelArc,
Everest Home and another or two show the correct product keys. I pointed
this out awhile back in another thread and a couple of folks couldn't accept
that. In their view I confusing OEM keys with what I said were the correct
keys
