Hey guys,
I have a PIII system (800 MHz) with Intel original chipset motherboard
(810-810E).. I recently bought two 256 MB memory chips.. I just wanted to
know the difference b/n two 256 MB chips and one 512 MB chips.. How will it
affect the performance? Which one is better? Please give details on this one..

Using just one chip allows for future memory upgrades as it only utilises
one slot..

There are no details to give, either way it's still 512MB of memory. No
better, no worse.

bank interleaving is more effective with the 2 chips versus 1.

Some of the older PIII systems can not use 512 MB memory, they can only
use up to 256 MB memory and it has to be of the proper design. To make
sure that you get the right memory use a site like crucial.com and enter
your system information. If you get the wrong chips it might work but
only show half the memory you purchased.

You can find 512MB of pc 133, but there are often compatibility issues.
You may have to do a pair of 256mb sticks.

There is no interleave when using one RAM module.
