tweakui autologon causes xp pro to freeze

My boss decided to be clever, and enabled the TweakUI autologon feature for
his XP Pro laptop. Since that, however, the machine will not boot. When it
starts up, you get the usual windows loading animations, then a blank blue
screen (the default desktop background) with a mouse cursor, and that's it.
The hard drive light looks like it's working, but even after several hours,
nothing happens. Booting into safe mode leads to the login prompt, but
neither the mouse or keyboard work, so you can't get in that way either.

Any suggestions?

Well, if it's not getting in then I'd suggest a repair installation and
while I don't recommend a business computer being allowed to login
automatically there's a better way to do it than to have TweakUI set it up
for you.
