tweaking XP menus and explorer

Thanks in advance.

I upgraded to XP recently, and I would like
to customize two items;

1) In explorer, I want the bmp/jpg image preview and the number
of files displayed, also the circular disk picture,
just like on Windows 2000

2) I would like to turn off the menu-fade which occurs
when I use the START menu.

I noticed no answers to #1. Another thread started on 11/16/06 touches on the
same matter, but gets distracted into file save options and no clear answer.

Can anyone suggest how to set folder options to display as web page and
preview files in the additional column that is available in win2k?
