Hi:
I just bought an AIW 9800 to replace a Geforce3 Ti-200 and it's great, but
I'm just having one minor sound-related issue.
My mainboard has built-in Cmedia sound which I have connected to 4.1
speakers. Unfortunately, this means that I have to configure the sound
settings in such a way that I lose my Line-In (I have Front-Out, Rear-Out,
and Mic-In). Anyway, to get around this, I connected the 9800's internal
audio-out to the mainboard's Aux-in. I actually prefer this since it's a bit
cleaner.
In the TV setup wizard, I made sure that Aux-In was selected. The problem is
that when I watch TV on my monitor, the audio only plays through my front
speakers. Strangely, if I record the show and then play it back in Media
Player, I get full 4 speaker sound. I'm puzzled as to why 4 speaker sound
doesn't work when watching real-time TV.
Am I missing something or is this some idiosyncrasy of the 9800 card or
Cmedia chipset? BTW, I'm using all the latest drivers/software.
Thanks,
