Turning Windows XP into a printserver on port 9100

Hi there !

I have a tricky point of sale system (Micros) that needs to print to IP
printers.
In order to not have a PC with the client and a printer with a NIC involved
in this, I was trying to find a solution how I can "share" a locally attached
printer from the Windows OS out on port 9100 for the POS Server to be able to
find the printer.

I wasn't able to find anything. Anybody's got an idea or a direction for me ?

Thanks !!!

It's not a function of the OS. You would need to purchase or write an
application that would read data from 9100 and channel it to the bus the
printer is attached.

You could try LPD (print services for Unix) on the client side. Port 515.

Hi Alan,
thank you for your post, but LPD 515 did not do the trick. That app is only
recognizing port 9100 "printservers".
Well Well. Back to the drawing board.
