turning OFF track changes, undo and trace precedents/dependents

Hello,

Is it possible to turn OFF change-tracking, undo and the trace
precedents/dependents features in order to improve calculation times and the
performance of a very large file in Excel 2007?

Thanks!

Dear Charles,

Thanks very much for your helpful response. I also read the 'Improving
Performance in Excel 2007' document you referenced and found it to be very
helpful as well.

I think one of the problems with my spreadsheet is that I need to minimize
the Used Range. When I tried to delete the unnecessary rows I get an
'insufficient memory' error message. Is there another way to minimize the
Used Range rather than deleting rows/columns?

Thanks!
Derek

Hi Derek,

Deleting is the way to go: try doing it in smaller chunks.

Dear Charles,

Thanks again for the helpful response. I'm currently having a problem with
saving my spreadsheet but hopefully it will finish saving soon and I can try
some of the strategies you suggested to get it working better. In case I'm
still not able to figure out what's slowing down the spreadsheet, would it be
possible to send it to you to see if someone at your firm can get it working
better? I've worked on it quite a bit already so I'm not optimistic that I'll
be able to get it operating more efficiently. Could you give me a general
idea what you would charge for this (if this is the kind of work you would
accept)? I'm way behind in meeting a deadline and really need to get the
spreadsheet working faster soon...

Thanks again,
Derek

We would be happy to help speed it up. I will reply in more detail offline.
