I automatically start up messenger when I start windows and it always
starts in "Appear Offline" status. How can I turn this default off ?

I am using Windows Live Messenger v 8.0.0812.00

Greetings LK,

Just right-click on the Messenger icon in the notification area when you're signed in, choose
Sign Out. Then double-click the Messenger icon, change your status to Online and then sign
in again.

You should now be logged in as Online all the time.

Hi,

Tried that, but the next time I turn on my computer, messenger again
logs with the
"Appear Offline" status...
