Trying update to service pack 2

I have Win xp, and i'm trying to update to service pack 2, so, after unload
files from internet and trying to install, i have a message what say "access
is Denied", then, the wizard procced to remove the files. I also have
problems to instal Norton Internet Security, i have a message what say " The
installer requiered that microsoft windows Installer be on your Computer.
Without that you cannot instal Symantec product.....". thanks for your
help.....

Make sure the system is free of malware by running a combination of
programs in safe mode. The SP2 patch won't apply or work well if there
are problems with the system to begin with, malware being a significant
cause of problems.
