trying to update xp home to SP2

I am trying to updtate my XP home edition after formatting my hard drive and
reloading XP. It will go for a few minutes and do what it has to, but half
way through the process it will stop and an error will pop up and say "access
is denied". It will then undo all it did and reboot the computer and it says
SP2 was partially installed and may not work properly. Suggestions please.

Hi Adam
You give no error details etc - nor do you say what procedure you followed
to install SP2 - did you disable AntiV
did you scan your system and ensure it was free from all nasties. What
method are you using to do the upgrade - free CD from MS or download from
the web site.
I have been collecting useful stuff re SP 2 for a friend - I hope some of
the info helps - some you may already know about. It is what has been
already suggested by those who know in the groups.
My thanks to them for this information.
It may have been a better idea to have put your thread/topic in the
windowsupdates in the web interface of the discussion groups rather than
general - time will tell.

Download the entire SP2 package from here :
