Trying to play DVD's with X800 Pro

Bill Bradley

I have a genuine ATI X800 Pro AGP card. I have the original 180-G01468-100
CD, and, have been trying to get either the CD or the MMC download to
install the DVD Decoder software. I installed it off of the CD, but,
there's nothing to let me play a DVD (except Windows Media Player), I tried
installing the 9.02 MMC from their website, but, when it comes to the
Decoder, it keeps telling me I don't have an original CD.

??

Thanks.

There's a separate program for installing the dvd decoder, for 9.02 it's
aticdwiz4.0.exe. download this and run it. it's better if it's run
before mmc is installed, also dao and windows media encoder must be
installed b4 mmc.

Thanks, Mark, but, I did download that, and run it, and, it looks for the
original CD, which I have, and, says it's not the right CD.

Is it a retail boxed board or an OEM board? If OEM it might not have
included the DVD decoder, which is licensed by ATI and for which they have
to charge a fee, which they roll into the price on retail-boxed but not
always on OEM.

You may end up having to pay the ten bucks for the CD with the decoder.

At this point I would contact the catalyst crew at
http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/ and run the gambit. They used to
have a downloadable tool which reads your entire hardware-software
contents and stores it in a text file - which is uploadable thru
driverfeedback.
