Trying to install image - XP drive is hidden on bootup

Hi,

I'm trying to reinstall a previously created hard drive image.

When trying to install the image, I receive an error saying
the hard drive is hidden during bootup.

I have preformed reinstallation of the image many times and
this is the first time this has happened - maybe since
WinXP SP2?

Any ideas how to make the hard drive visible during bootup.

Thank you.

Regards,

Mark

Let me guess: You're using Norton Ghost as an imaging
program. Or is it PowerQuest DriveImage? Or Acronis?
Or some other product?

If you're after good advice then please state in detail
how you created the image, and how exactly you're
trying to restore it. If you don't then you will only get a
few guesses.

Thanks for the reply,

I'm using PowerQuest Drive Image, and I created a backup
on a second hard drive. Backup of C onto D, with high
compression, but no splitting of the image - just a
standard image backup of the entire drive.

I am able to select the backup and Drive Image restarts
the computer and begins to load (green background shows).

Then I get the error, the drive is not visible in boot-
mode. The problem therefore seems that Drive Image cannot
see / find the drive to be able to restore the backup.

I've done this hundreds of times, but never had this
problem before. I've recently installed XP SP2 - not sure
if that hides the drive for security reasons on bootup?

My drive image rescue disks do not work either as I
cannot get XP to boot from floppy, even though it's set
in the bios to boot from floppy and I have disabled the
boot from CD option. XP just continues to boot as normal.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.
