Trying to disable changing of network id

Hi,

I would like to know whether it is possible to have the network id and the
change button to be disabled so user cannot change the network id. As
yesterday when my colleague check one of the workstation, it has quite a
number of network id and he is confused on which is the correct network id
that is currently being used and which is the administrator.

It is under XP Pro 2. And for your info also, the user is in the
administrator rights also. Is there any possibility to do it?

Please show me how to do it. Thank you very much for your help.

Are you speaking of user accounts when you say "network id"?

I think it is....

I'm a bit confused... Is network id and user account the same?

because let say that the user account has been created for the user then the
user add another network id using that account, this will create a number of
the id right?

and sorry for the late reply...

Hi Shenan,

nope, i'm talking about the id which is used for the communication /
messenger services.

because the user account should be only one, but the id is created by the
user for the messenger services...

You mean the Windows Live ID?

Things are not getting clearer - but more fuzzy.
Can you describe what you are seeing, clicking, doing, etc to get to this
ID?

I'm fairly certain you do not mean the Windows Logon Username now.
However - it almost sounds like you mean Windows Live Messenger.

Or - have you setup some sort of loose network where the server(s) and the
user(s) have no connection other than you created a share on the server they
could access?

Hi Shenan,

Let say that we as IT admin has created a user account for the local machine
for them. And after that we pass the pc to them.

As they need to use the Skype, MSN and other messaging system they start to
create the network id for this purpose which is I think was stored in the
server.

At the time that the user have trouble, and we try to fix that, we found
that under the user account also they have a lot of users which in the end,
we don't know which one is actually still active or not.

Because what I want to actually do is to disable the changing of computer
name under the properties of the my computer. Because under the computer name
tab, the user can add or change the network id.

Is it possible to be done?
