Trying to connect through the Miniport WAN (PPPOE)

I had a desktop with Windows XP and bought a new desktop with Windows Vista
and since the first day I've been having the problem of this annoying
message of "Trying to connect through the Miniport WAN (PPPOE)" or something
similar (the original message is in Spanish so this is my best translation),
that repeats every so often . I connect through a Netgear Router and a Cable
Modem (ethernet, not USB).

The old desktop did not have this problem. Sometimes surfing the web became
slow but I never had any messages like this, so my guess is that maybe the
Vista is too sensible and detects any delay as if it had lost the connection
(it is just my wild guess). Does anyone know the reason for this behavior?
Is there a parameter I could change that would stop this? I already tried
dissabling the "IPv6" protocol but the problem continues.

Jorge, you would need the miniport wan only if you had no router. Since your
router is providing the logon through ppoe, as it is in my case, you should
be able to remove that interface.

What you suggest is to disable (through software) the PPPOE port?

Could you please explain what you mean by "you would need the miniport wan
only if you had no router" what is this port used for?
