Trying System Recover...computer shuts down in the process

Hello,
When I start my other computer, it goes to a black screen and says,

Windows could not start because of the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

After some research, I found out that it could be that my System registry
hive is too large for the OS to load and is now corrupted. So I followed the
instructions on how to fix it article number 307545 in KB.

Anyway, when I start the computer with the recovery cd, it starts to load,
and then just shuts down.

Can anyone give me some help?
Thank you

Hello again....now it doesn't appear that it will even boot up with the cd.
Is there a way to get all my files off of it still?
Please help
