Trusts

I posted this in Directory Services the other day and got some helpful hints, so I'm hoping to get some more here! I have 2 domains, we'll say A and B. A is a Windows 2000 domain, while Domain B is running WINNT. I can ping the PDC of Domain B from the DC of Domain A. I can resolve the name with DNS. I'm trying to add a one-way trust so that Domain A trusts Domain B, and Domain B can access some shares from Domain A.

Everytime I try to add the trust (starting from the Windows 2000 Domain) I get a message saying "Domain B cannot be contacted."

I have looked at the LMHOSTS file on the DC of Domain A (Windows 2000) and added the entries that (supposedly) would point to the WINNT domain. Still, I get the same problem. Has anybody ever had this issue, or is there another way to communicate with Domain B? How do you "contact" another domain?

Thunder,

In the LMhosts file the entry for your WinNT PDC should have a #PDC and
#Domain. Here is the link at explains on how to create these entries.

Hope this helps, please let us know if this solves your problem.

Thanks,
Pavan
