i didnt think you needed to use lmhosts when setting up a
non-transitive trust between 2 win2k forests?

lmhost is used for netbios name resolution, you should be specifying entries
in host file instead. The host file is read/parsed before W2K attempts to
resolve via a DNS server.

lmhosts files is a name resolution thing. If you have some other way to resolve the names then you don't need lmhosts.
How do you think your systems are resolving each other's names? More importantly how are they really doing it? That is
the key question.
