Troubleshoot "Extend my windows desktop to second monitor"

Hello,

I use programs on my extended windows desktop on my second monitor. Now when I undo the extension to a second monitor, that is I use only my notebook-monitor again, some dialog boxes or entire program-windows (lets say Adobe Photoshop) do not appear on my notebook-monitor, but remain unseen on the "not-there-anymore" second monitor. This results in the annoying fact that I have to go and "blindly search" for the dialog boxes in the "imaginary nowhere" to the left of my laptop hoping that I achieve to catch that window in its top blue banner and drag it back to my notebook-screen. Could anyone explain to me how I can avoid this problem when I undo the "extend my desktop to second monitor"?

Thank you for your support!

Hi,

If the screen extension is still enable, disable it.
This should bring them back to the main screen.

A workaround is to 'maximize' the programs that dissappeard.
That brings them also back to your laptop screen.

Some programs "remember" the last window position, so it may still appear
off-screen when the screen gets smaller (either by disabling a second monitor
or by changing resolution).

If you right-click on the program "button" in the task bar, there should
appear a menu choice to "move" - if you select this, you can then use the
cursor keys to move the window around (even if you can't see it). If you have
no mouse attached, or can't see the taskbar for some reason, you can alt-tab
until the program window in question is active, then press alt-space to get
this menu open, then press M for move.
