I put my win2k hard drive from one machine into another.
Then I got a bsod (blue screen of death) it state hardware
something or another, then it also told me to run
chkdsk...yadda...

I tried the recovery console fm win2k disk and did a
fixboot then I did a fixmbr but I didn't specify a device
etc; Also this hdd was partitioned and formatted to
NTFS. Is there a way to fix the issue without loss of
data on this drive or do I just throw in the towel.

Thanks

Dave,

I have run setup with win2k, remembering the intial
install was formatted with NTFS it recognizes
two "unrecognizable" partitions on this drive. It doesn't
find the os. Is it safe to assume all data is lost?
Secondly if I go ahead and delete the one partition this
now makes it a one partition drive and if so does it
destroy old data. Before I reinstall these are quesions I
need answers too. I've made the fatal error of doing a
fixmbr and fixboot so now its a mess...

* What happens if you move it back?

* Deleting one partition does not automatically expand the remaining
partition into the rest of the drive. You can do this destructively by
deleting all partitions and recreate one partition using the entire drive or
you can use a tool like Partition Magic to expand an existing partition
non-destructively.

* Try moving the drive back as it may be a dissimilar controller driver
issue.

I'd like to move it back but the board in the old box is
fried.
