trouble with launching .pps file when reading mail

When I download and open a .pps file sent via e-mail the application
behaves as if it will cooperate but I get just sound unless I save it and
open powerpoint myself. Can anyone help me with this?

Are you opening it on a laptop or desktop computer?

If you double click on the PPS file (after it has been saved to the hard
drive), does it open correctly?
